The best Valentine’s Day books for a toddler | 2020

Yeah I’m that mom.

Let me tell you, I haven’t always went all out for every holiday. Usually fun holidays like Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s day and Easter I don’t normally decorate. However with James being old enough to understand the specialness of holidays I want to go all out!

One of the ways I have been teaching my 2 year old son James about holidays is through books! Books are a great way to introduce holidays to children. Some books (like the night before Christmas) can tell the story of the holiday. Other books can tell you how you celebrate the holiday (Cliffords first Valentine’s Day). Other books I have found are just fun ways to expose your little to the holiday.

I look forward to browsing the holiday isle at Kroger or the holiday shelves at the library looking for the BEST books to read with James. This time I thought I’d share them with you guys!

Happy Valentine’s Day curious George by H. A Rey

This book is one of my favorites because its a lift the flap book! James LOVES these books. Follow George on a Valentine’s adventure!

Valentine’s shapes by Barbara Barbieri McGrath

I used to think board books were just for babies but I was so wrong. This board books is great for learning shapes.

Mr. Goats Valentine by Eve Bunting

This is a fun picture book with adorable illustrations. Follow Mr Goat along as he finds the perfect present for his valentine.

The secret life of squirrels, a love story by Nancy Rose

Okay guys this one was my favorite! I laughed so hard at this book I’m definitely going to look for other books in this series. This book is about lonely Mr. Peanut and his search to find love.

The Ballad of Valentine by Alison Jackso

I’ll admit this is my other favorite. This ballad is wrote to sound a lot like the ballad Clementine. It’s a hilarious adventure! I love singing this book as loud as I can!

Let me know in the comments what is your favorite Valentine’s Day book!
